karijini

arriving in karijini national park we set up our tents in the camping area, the only facilities were toilets, but, only 10 mins away by foot was the first of many amazing natural pools. this is were we would end up at the end of a hard days trekking!!!! the colours of the rock with the pools and bush gave some great walks!

the walks above were on dry land, up and down the huge gorges, the walk below started on foot but also swimming and rock climbing were encountered in order to get to the furthest point without a guide and absailing equiptment!!! it was an amazing walk/trek/swim!

the handrail pool was really cool, walking between the narrow gorge with water running between your legs you emerged through the rocks to a pool which with the handrail and rope you could climb down to! it didnt stop there, after lunch and a swim, we left our stuff and swam through the gorge to find more narrow swims and rock climbs to a drop into another pool, once in there is no way out, so you have to make sure you dont slip. a rescue team costs alot of money and my insurance wouldnt cover it as i didnt have a guide!!! exhilerating stuff!!

another great walk through more narrow gorges and rock ledges got us to kermits pool! kermit travelled a long way but he was finally at one of his many places around the world!

the pic below is where i bumped into a lad who's mate had slipped into the pool below! he was not confident enough to climb and crawl along the ledges back to safety, so there he stayed until the rescue team arrived just before evening!!!! expensive slip! also see a small python along the ledges, my first snake in oz! not that impressive as you can see!(below)

the recue team on its way! 5 people!!

the pics below are from our trek up mount bruce, not that high but bloody hard work in the heat!!!! great views!!
