past few wkends including Oakura wkend away

hey everyone! friday night spent at adams for a bbq
saturday me tom kelly and dan went to the nz beer festival, good selection of beers and some music as well! a nice beer filled wkend! i now live for the wkends again!!

last week we went to a pub called galbreiths ale house, which has a great selection of aenglish style ale and beers! beer here a few times and always end up in a drunken stupor!!
at least this time i could blame it on amy, as it was her birthday! we got drunk, had some great food(lamb shank,mmmmm) snorted cake, didnt spell it wrong we actually snorted some of amys birthday cake! tasted good!
then back to amys for some more beer, music, twister and chocolate fondu!
we had a chocolate fight, as you can see below i came off all chocolatey!

ok few weeks back went up north to a place called oakura, a bach (house by the sea)

most important thing on the 3 hour journey was to stop at the supermarket and load up with beer!!

this is most of the beer we got, in total we had about 200 beers! between 7 of us it got us sufficiently drunk over the wknd!

had a great location, i managed to get up at 9am after our first nights drinking and go for a swim! sorted my hangover out!

later in the day i body borded tried surfing for the 1st time, stood up 3 times but fell of each time, still it was good fun!

also managed to do some drunken kayaking over to an island! took me and dan about an hour their and back, we had beers with us so all was good!!

tom (birthday boy) is the bbq king so let him do all the hard work, as you can see he didnt mind as he had a supply of cold beer to help him through! great stuff!

overall a great wkend away! cant wait for the next one!

dDub night out!

Hello people who read my blogs! good for you if you do, i appreciate it!
well finally got myself away for the wkend again! arranged to go see a nz band who were great live apparently! ok the tv ad sold it to me but i did like the two songs i heard on the nz music channels! bands name is dDub and supporting were tahuna breaks!
so got myself a ticket, location was waiheke island, 30 mins away from auckland via ferry! me and my buddy tom from luton (living in nottingham)who ive know since my backpacker days before xmas organised ourselves and managed to arrive 1 hour before the gig started! not too bad but this meant that didnt get to see any of the island which is really nice! so ive heard! (dont worry i will go back!)

unfortunately kelly my canadian flatmate cut her feet open at the beach with us the other day and cant walk so she missed out!
here is a pic of me being very sympathetic and poking her foot with a cooking utensil!! ha ha serves her right for being canadian!!!






anyway back to the great night out, the venue was a small pub, oh well not so bad as it had a great beer garden and also had live entertainment outside too!
not sure how to explain their style,... but they were old, could play well and sang songs about anything the woman could write down by the sounds of it!



went inside when the support band came on they were pretty shit hot actually, with a mixture of reggae/funk/soul! which is right up my street! listing to it now on myspace, check it out if you have time!

after tahuna breaks dDub came on and to my supprise the lead guy was someone i met earlier in the evening!! (on right of pic with big hair! i was so jealous of the hair!)
not a great way to meet him as it was in the toilet and i had slipped on the wet floor (i realise it could of been piss!) and fell on my ass! nice!
anyway they did have a really good live act and will get their albulm soon!



thought id take a pic of a lovely couple, they win my best dressed award for the evening!!! ha ha



add another 10 people and thats how intimate the gig was, which was great for me, as no one bumped into me and had a leaning post on the window ledge! only moved from there to the bar and toilet! more about the bar later!!



ok so we had prime position to get to the bar, managed to drink myself silly on speights beer, which tastes ok but as my bro told my its a bad chemical beer!
yes he was correct i feel bad still after my 2 day hangover!!!!!!
well we worked out we had 20 beers! each! sounds really impressive but they serve girly size glasses, under a pint maybe 3/4 of a pint?
tom fair play to him was in a better condition than me (will rematch him this wkend!)
this is him being drunk on the boat on the way back after 7 hours good drinking!!
he stole a rug from the bar and somehow got it on the boat lugged over his shoulder! it now sits in pride of place on his flat floor! great beer trophy and well deserved!

ok so he didnt actually do it and this girl with big hooters gave him shit about it!!! apparently she was more drunk than me ( ive lost all recognition of the last 1 hour and had to be filled in! love it!)
